Lazy low water days

Mid-week late Summer

**       Please follow these directions. GPS might take you down a bumpy road near the Cottages**

If you are coming from the Sacramento airport, my recommendation is to take I-5 South to Hwy 50 East, toward South Lake Tahoe. Then follow the directions below for eastbound Hwy 50.

Going Eastbound Interstate 80 From Roseville:

Auburn is your focal point.
*Auburn would be a good stop for groceries & gas
1) In Auburn take the Highway 49 PLACERVILLE/ELM Ave exit #119C off Interstate 80 (NOT the SR Hwy 49/193 exit #119B. Take the next one, it’s easier)
2) Go Left at stop light then proceed to the bottom of the hill to the next stop light and go left. You are now on highway 49.
3) The road curves to the right and you will go through one more stop light under the railroad tracks. Continue forward on Hwy 49. You will now be heading down the river canyon. This portion of the road is very windy.
4) When you get close to the bottom of the grade, you will go right over the river bridge for another few miles. This will take you back up the next grade to the small town of Cool. This portion of the road is also very windy. *Fuel and grocery can be found here as well.
5) At the stop sign in Cool, continue forward for approx 10 more miles.
*After about 10 miles, you will come to another stop sign at Marshall Road and you will see the Coloma Club on the left.
6) Continue forward for about another half mile then you will cross over the South Fork American River Bridge to the next stop sign. Continue forward.
*You will now be entering the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park.
7) Go approx 1 mile through the state park.
8) After you pass the historic buildings in Coloma, start to slow down and look for the old white school house on the left and the 15 MPH right hand turn sign on the right. You will go straight off of Hwy 49 and onto Coloma Heights/New River Road here.
*If you continue around the 15mph turn and see the Sutter Center Market on the right, you’ve gone too far. Turn around then make your first right onto Coloma Heights._______
9) Stay left on Coloma Heights Road and it will turn into New River Road. Approximately ¼ mile.
10) 5941 New River Road is on the left, just before the American River Resort. There is a black gate at the entrance and you have arrived!
11) Enter your gate code then #, wait one second and the gate will open. Pull straight ahead and park directly in front of your cottage.

The River Deck #2 is the yellow cottage. Go forward stay to the right of the driveway to the yellow cottage on the left.

Bullit’s Bar #3 is the peach cottage next to the yellow cottage.

Romantic Riverfront cottage #4 is the little blue and under the trees next to the tan cottage. Pull straight in AND PARK ON THE LEFT SIDE/front of the cottage to ensure #3’s privacy.

The Riverhaus & Rio Azul are in the first building you come to. The building is tan with blue trim. Riverhaus is in the middle of the building with a terra cotta sunshine by the front door, and Rio Azul is in the front of the building with 4 windows and a #7 by the front door.

Going Westbound on Interstate 80 from Truckee/Auburn:
Take the Highway 49 Placerville / Elm Street exit #119C and stay right to go over the freeway. Enter the left lane as soon as possible, and then go left at the stop light at the bottom of the hill. You are now on Hwy 49. You will go through one more stop light under the railroad tracks. Continue forward, down the river canyon toward the towns of Cool & Coloma.

Follow steps #4 - #11 above

Going Eastbound on Highway 50 from the Folsom / Sacramento area:

Cameron park is your focal point.

*Cameron Park would be a good stop for groceries and gas.
Head East toward South Lake Tahoe on Hwy 50, and travel for about 30-40 minutes. You will go through Folsom then El Dorado Hills then Cameron Park.
1) After the town of Cameron Park, exit the Mother Lode Drive / No Shingle / Ponderosa Road exit #37.
2) Go left over the freeway then take your first right onto No. Shingle Road.
3) Go approx 8 miles, then No. Shingle turns into Lotus Road.
4) Take Lotus Road approximately 8 miles to the end and go RIGHT onto Highway 49.
5) Go approx 1 mile through the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park then follow #8 - #11 above
